Craig Williams this week welcomed UK Government Cabinet Member and Conservative Party Co-Chairman The Rt. Hon Amanda Milling MP to Montgomeryshire.

Ms Milling visited Montgomeryshire as part of a tour of Mid Wales, focussing on training and skills within the region. During her tour, she and Craig Williams visited the Chartists 1770 restaurant based at the Trewythen Hotel in Llanidloes.

Chartists 1770 is operated by Cambrian Training Company, who this month opened the restaurant creating 16 full-time and part-time jobs, including 6 apprenticeships. Ms Milling and Craig met with staff and apprentices, as well as Cambrian Training Company CEO Arwyn Watkins.

Commenting, Craig Williams MP said:

“It was brilliant to be able to welcome Amanda to Montgomeryshire, where we had a great visit to the newly opened Chartists 1770 at the Trewythen Hotel in Llanidloes. Cambrian Training are a superb organisation, and their significant investment into the Hotel and Restaurant has resulted in an extremely impressive facility that I would highly recommend!

“Amanda’s visit was focussed on training and skills within Mid Wales, and she met with staff and apprentices at Trewythen. We also had a good discussion with CEO Arwyn Watkins regarding the UK Government’s Kick Start programme, alongside opportunities for apprentices working towards Foundation Apprenticeships and Apprenticeships in licensed hospitality, food production, cookery and cleaning supervision skills, all of which are delivered by Cambrian Training at the Hotel.

“I will be working with Amanda and Cambrian Training in expanding training and apprenticeship opportunities across Montgomeryshire, allowing young people’s skills to develop and flourish whilst receiving invaluable ‘on the job’ experience.”

Commenting, Amanda Milling MP, Co-Chairman of the Conservative Party, said:

“It was fantastic to visit Trewythen Hotel in Llanidloes and hear about the apprentices they’re training up so they can build a career in hospitality.

“It’s training schemes like this and the work that Cambrian Training do that play a key part in this Conservative government’s mission to level up our whole country.

“The work that Craig is doing in Montgomeryshire and businesses that are equipping people with the skills they need to get on in life are vital to levelling up the region.”
