Craig Williams MP has this week congratulated Trudy Davies, of Woosnam and Davies News, Llanidloes on being named as a finalist for the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) Awards 2023.
Trudy was a finalist for the Raj Aggarwal Trophy for outstanding community retailing. She had been nominated based on a number of factors, including her deep connection to the Llanidloes community; her support for a wide array of local and national causes; and for engaging with the community through social initiatives like jigsaw swaps and local artisan showcases.
The Minister for Small Business, Kevin Hollinrake MP, presented the Awards and spoke about each of the finalists. He praised Trudy’s work in Llanidloes and the “outstanding contribution she made to the life of those within her community”.
Craig Williams was delighted to welcome Trudy to the Houses of Parliament for the ACS reception, and commented:
“It was fantastic that Trudy was named as a finalist for the ACS Awards, which justly recognises the incredible dedication she has given to Llanidloes and the wider area over many years. Trudy has always put her customers and the community first; be it through her fundraising for causes such as local healthcare and sports; to offering free deliveries for those in need and organising so many community initiatives – all whilst running a successful local business. She is a fantastic advocate for the trade.
“It was a great honour to go to the Awards to be able to congratulate Trudy, and to talk with her and other convenience store owners about some of the challenges faced by store owners across the UK. We also had an opportunity to speak with Small Business Minister, Kevin Hollinrake MP, where Trudy was able to give her thoughts on how the UK Government can offer further support to small businesses such as hers.”
