Craig Williams MP has this week signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment, pledging his commitment to Holocaust Memorial Day and honouring those who were murdered during the Holocaust.
This year marks 77 years since the liberation of the concentration camps of Europe and the end of the Second World War. On the 27th January, the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, people across the globe will remember on Holocaust Memorial Day.
Craig this week met with the Holocaust Memorial Trust within Parliament in pledging his commitment to remembering the Holocaust, and paying tribute to the extraordinary Holocaust survivors who work tirelessly to educate young people today.
In the lead up to and on Holocaust Memorial Day, thousands of commemorative events will be arranged by schools, faith groups and community organisations across the country, remembering all of the victims of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides.
After signing the Book of Commitment, Craig Williams MP said:
“Holocaust Memorial Day is an important opportunity for us all to reflect on the darkest times of European history. As the Holocaust moves from living history, to history, it becomes ever more important that we take the time to remember the six million Jewish victims and also pay tribute to the incredible survivors. We will ensure they are never forgotten.”
Craig Williams MP has welcomed news that Powys will receive over £27 million of funding from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), to help level up communities across the region.
